Founded by Brett Bye in 2015, Irrational began as a DMV-based wedding video business to support his independent filmmaking ambitions. In 2017, a partnership with Dance Team Union & Inferno Dance fueled the growth of Irrational's scale with a large event, sport, and marketing focus.
While growing the company, Brett & the Irrational team began integrating more of the independent filmmaking spirit into client work, resulting in highly original & exciting deliverables, happy clients, and engaged audiences.
In 2025, Irrational is focused on expanding our collaborations, building its network of connections and clients, and continuing to elevate the voices of other independently minded businesses, artists, and personalities.

Guided by a lifelong love for the filmmaking process and a passion for interesting and unique stories, Brett Bye created his own path through the industry to build a video business where both of those principles are achieved in collaboration with clients across America.
A filmmaker at heart, Irrational was founded initially by Brett as a method to support an independent career in film but evolved from there into an alive and growing network of other talented video makers and clients all irrational enough to do things their own way.
Also, he's from Baltimore, Maryland and his favorite movies are Jurassic Park, Blue Velvet, and Magnolia.
